In 1989, her first long comic story "The Seven Mirrors Stories" created a bright future for Taiwan's comic world. Since that, many local comic magazines and new comicists have appeared and become popular. She is called "Comic Queen" by the Taiwanese media. In 1990, her second comic "Fire King" was voted NO.1 in whole year by the readers even with the immense popularity of Japanese comics. In 1997, she finished the longest comic ("Fire King" 13 volumns) in Taiwanese history. She is still the most popular local comicist in Taiwan.
The Fire King is also published in China. It is amazing that more than 1 millon copies of this comic (each volumn) were also published illegally.
Shu Laim's comic is also very popular in Korea. In recent years, the Japanese and Korean media have been to Taiwan to do some reports on her.
